C-peptide Suppression Test

This test is used in the diagnosis of an insulinoma. Administration of insulin normally causes a decrease in the production and release of C peptide into the blood, by a process of negative feedback. In patients with an insulinoma, because the gland is not responding normally to physiological signals, this suppression is not seen.
