How do Thyroid nodules present?

Most thyroid nodules are asymptomatic. Thyroid nodules can present as a palpable lump or can be felt by the patient as a 'lump in the throat'. In very rare cases a thyroid nodule can present with pain or difficulty in swallowing. A thyroid nodule can produce too much thyroid hormone and be named a 'hot' nodule. A hot nodule can produce symptoms of thyrotoxicosis (see section on thyrotoxicosis).
