How do you maintain Anaesthesia?

Once the anaesthetic has been safely induced and the monitoring devices safely applied, the patient is moved to the operating theatre. During the operation the following are monitored:

• Heart Rate (ECG)
• Oxygen Saturation
• Carbon dioxide in expired air
• Amount of anaesthetic agent administered
• Pressure and flow of air out of lungs
• Temperature
