What are the Symptoms of Diabetes Insipidus?

The main three symptoms of diabetes insipidus are:

  • Polyuria - the production of large volumes of urine (up to 20 litres a day)
  • Nocturia - the passage of urine at night

Compensatory polydipsia - abnormally intense thirst
The main danger of this disease is that the polyuria leads to dehydration that can be very severe in an unconscious patient whose fluid replacement cannot be maintained.
