Transethmoidal approach

This approach is used as it approaches the pituitary fossa just beneath the floor of the skull base. This approach is only suitable for intrasellar tumours. A semicircular incision is made around the medial angle of the eye. Access is gained via the ethmoidal air cells. This technique is limited by its access to the gland.
