How does Follicular Cancer of the Thyroid present?

Follicular cancer of the thyroid presents in two ways:

1) As a single lump in the thyroid:

This is the common mode of presentation.

2) As pain in a bone or a spontaneous fracture:

When follicular tumours spread by the blood stream they may present with bone pain; the bone is softened by secondary deposits and may fracture.
