What are the principles of treatment of Papillary Cancer of the Thyroid?
The excellent prognosis in papillary cancer is in part a reflection of the indolent and relatively benign nature of the tumour. The management consists of a three-pronged attack:
- Thyroid Surgery
- Radioactive iodine therapy and external beam radiotherapy
- Drug Treatment - Thyroxine therapy and extremely limited use of chemotherapy
