What is Thyroiditis?

Thyroiditis is an inflammatory condition of the thyroid. There are a number of causes of this inflammation. The major types of thyroiditis are listed below:

• Hashimoto's thyroiditis
• Suppurative thyroiditis
• Subacute (nonsuppurative or 'de Quervain's') thyroiditis
• Reidel's Thyroiditis
